18. Monday.
James not here, John about horses, cattle etc., x then clean up
drinking place for cattle, saw wood – x draw down 2 load soft wood from
opposite workshop by dinner – Self put a step door between parlour and
pantry, repair Fan’s halter —
19. Tuesday. James not here, John about horses and cattle etc., &
put on a steamer of tatoes by dinner, then cut down drinking place for
Horses, saw some wood for little stove, help do up the things, --- Self at
repairs about door going up old stairs ---
20. Wednesday. James about horses in morng, clean
out Cow stable etc., Salt some beef, level snow in clothe’s yard & saw
soft wood till dinner, then at sundries & saw wood for little stove and
help do up the things –
John ill – Self cut up the third quarter of beef, at repairs about Old
Upstairs door, clean kitchen pipe, fodder cattle morng
and eveng
21. Thursday James about horses in morng then to
Huntly with double sleigh for his family, John about cattle etc.,
help in horse stable in morng draw down a load pea - straw,
clean up peas & stow them away help do up the things --- Self to Aylmer
till dinner, plane up some slips for old upstairs door –
22. Friday James about horses, clean up some wheat by dinner, then at
sundries draw down 1 load old oat straw, John fodder cattle etc., and help
about horses in morng help clean up wheat, about sundries and help
with straw Self to Aylmer to try & and sell Chase till dinner, then at
sundries, over the river for honey
23. Saturday. James about horses, clean out stables etc., thrash wheat, do
up all in the eveng... John fodder cattle etc., &
load sleigh in morng then started to draw in wood for
George Diamond gave up the 3d drag – self to Ottawa with
wheat ---
24. Sunday. John came up with me last night and went back with Ham this
eveng –

things at night – Self burn lampas in all the horses, file both hardwood
saws, help do up in the eveng
29. Friday. James about horses in morning, draw down 1 load hay to Cow loft
& some wheat straw till dinner, then thrash wheat, John sundries &
saw wood in morning, help with hay & straw till dinner, then help draw
in wood, clean out grany.. stable &c ~
Self draw in 4 load hard wood, Pat Lynch got chase for a yoke 3 year old

straw, thrash wheat, John sundries and saw soft wood in morning then mix
and measure up prov.d. help down with oat straw, thrash
oats and about sundries --- Self to Aylmer with pross .. , got Dart shod, drew
home 1 load hard wood after I had dinner
2. Sunday. Ham, Charley and John came up last evening and went back to day
before noon on act.. of snow storm ----
