24 Wednesday. James at wood for himself till dinner, then draw Edward's two oak logs to Mill & saw 'em up, then took the Grey to the horse, Griffin ill, Major at chopping till dinner, roll oats in Old Pigfield & saw some wood, O'Neil at chopping__ George repair back of Parlour fire-place__ Self about crotch & sundries____

25 Thursday. James draw 3 logs from river to Mill in morn - , scuffle tatoes in Old Pigfield by 4 o'C. turn over tatoes, file saw, & saw, Griffin ill & off home, Major & O'Neil at sundries in morn - then at chopping till noon, then to Rob ts with calf &e in boat, hoe head-ridges of tatoes & at chopping again__ Self look about till dinner, then began a crotch__

26 Friday. James draw 6 logs out of the river & one of them up to Mill in morn - , then bore top bunks, Griffin not here, Major after sawlogs in boat in morn - , make pickets for fence till about 5 o'C, then at dung-heap, O'Neil help bring Sawlogs to landing in morn - then at dung-heap___ Self put g on top bunks__

27 Saturday. James draw in 3 logs out of the river & 4 to Mill in morn - mould tatoes in Old Pigfield by about 3½ o'C, then bore top bunks, Griffin not here, Major bring sawlogs in with boat in morn - , put on top-logs, saw pickets & bunks for the end-fence, at dung-heap, to Berry's for beer, point pickets, O'Neil help bring to logs to landing in morn - , help on with top-logs, mould head-ridges & at dung-heap_ Self help on with top-logs, put on some top bunks__

28 Sunday. Church A.M. M r Rolph's farewell__ Constance & John drove up yesterday even g & went back this even g __

29 Monday. James sundries in morn - , finish bore top bunks & put on top logs by dinner, then cart home refuse logs &e to yard for stove-wood, Griffin not here, O'Neil wheel dung out of sheep-yard & began on sheep-house, Major at dung-heap & help finish the fence by dinner, then chop & split up refuse logs, help load them___ Self skin the ewe in morn - , finish the fence by dinner____

30 Tuesday. James work Sawmill & pile some boards, Griffin not here, Major & O'Neil pull wigs of the cups, turn over Snows, finish clean out sheep-house & scrape the yard____

 

JULY 1857

1 Wednesday. James saw in morn - , draw 6 logs from river to Mill & saw till dinner, then help repair a leak in flume & saw till about 7o'C. then to the horse with the Grey, Major & O'Neil sundries in morn - , bring 7 sawlogs from below M r Read's & draw 'em on shore by dinner, then cart dung with Ham's horse from Gran - stable to dung-heap__ Griffin not here___ Self see about logs from river, till dinner, repair a leak in flume & about crotch__

2 Thursday. James file the saw & then saw, Major at dung-heap & draw 4 logs from river to Mill, Griffin came about sunset__ O'Neil off in morn - ,

3 Friday. James scuffle Churchfield tatoes by about 6 o'C, then work Sawmill, Griffin sundries in morn - , wash tatoe bags & help finish dung-heap by dinner, then hoe weeds in new ridge of Churchfield tatoes, then pile up chips &e along the fence, Major sundries in morn - , cart dung from white Barn & help finish dung-heap by dinner, then same as Griffin____ Self making the old crotch___

4 Saturday. James draw 2 Sawlogs from river to Mill in morn - then saw & pile some rough-edge in even g , Griffin sundries in morn - , then pile chips &e along fence, Major sundries in morn - , then ride Spring to Wainman's, pick up chips on his return_____ Self ride Dart to the Force & back to Hoppers, then took Spring & went to Hugh M c Cahan about a girl, came home by Weatherby's___

5 Sunday. No Church__

6 Monday. James draw 2 logs from river to Mill in morn - , roll oats till noon, then plough tatoes in Old Pigfield, Major & Griffin at sundries in morn - , pick up chips &e from about fence till noon then hoe tatoes
Self to Aylmer in Rob ts boat, & on to Ottawa____
